Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island known as West Island. The West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a large region that runs from Lachine to the west. The West Island is frequently referred to as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay in the city was brief. Brugel grew up in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She was determined to be a professional dancer, but due to a rapid increase in her height, she outgrew the dance partners she had. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. The moment I outgrew the size of my male companion then I slowed down. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. In the case of Brugel it was the guidance of her drama teacher in high school who pushed her to the path she wanted. The teacher suggested she try to find a role in school's annual production. She auditioned and eventually got the role of the main character in Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Since then, Brugel's been performing in over 60 plays, big and small. One of the most memorable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 and was only seen on occasion.
